Millions of people all over the world are getting fatter every year. Even the nations that never before had to worry about obesity, such as China, Japan and even Korea, are now seeing an epidemic. It’s like no one is exempt from love handles and belly fat. What is causing the human race to get so fat? The answer is simple: inadequate nutrition. We are nutrition deprived as far as what, how much, and when we eat. Since fast food drive-thrus are literally everywhere, individual serving sizes are consistently increasing, and even the foods offered on the market are being laced with sugar, fat, and chemical preservatives, it’s not hard to see why we have to buy bigger sized pants every year. However, there is a way to turn this around, and the answer lies in gaining knowledge about nutrition.
Energy from Food
These days it is all about the taste of our food and how much we can consume, and we have forgotten that it is meant as an energy source. We should eat only to fuel our bodies for daily activities. There is only so much food our bodies can burn for energy immediately, and the excess is stored as fat in case of a famine. Spite and revenge are not the reasons our bodies pack on the weight. Fat supplies are a natural and necessary part of human functioning.Fat serves an extremely important purpose: protecting the bones, organs, and muscle as well as keeping the body warm. It is also a way of preventing starvation. If we take in more calories than our body can burn off for energy in the short term, then the rest are broken down and stored in the ever expanding fat cells. Due to the huge portion sizes we consume today, our fat cells are expanding rapidly.
Balanced Nutrition is the Answer
Good nutrition is all about balance. You don’t have to give up your favorite foods, treats and desserts. The trick is to work them into a healthy diet so your weight stays in control. You should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean meats and you should even take some nutrition supplements such as vitamins. When you stick to healthy nutrition on a daily basis, your favorite fatty foods will be a great reward from time to time. As long as you are burning the extra calories off through a consistent exercise program, you can maintain a trim waistline and have a little treat once, maybe even twice a week.
If You’re Overweight
If you’re already overweight and you want to lose that weight, proper nutrition along with exercise is the only way to do it. If you can commit to taking in the nutrition your body needs, splitting your calories up into five or six smaller meals a day, and getting around thirty minutes of exercise 3-5 days each week, you will notice your fat cells shrinking faster than expected. Losing weight does take some consistent work, but there is no easy way around it.It isn’t possible without some work on your part. Exercise doesn’t have to be like you see on TV where people are practically killing themselves with extremely high intensity workouts. If you are sticking to a diet with balanced nutrition, simply walking around the neighborhood after dinner each night will burn off enough calories to produce weight loss.
